I have an opportunity to purchase a 1982 Mercedes Diesel Station Wagon for about $2500. I currently own the following vehicles:
94 Toyota Pick up 4WD, 190000 miles
71 VW Bus-restored, 4000 miles on new engine
2003 Mini Cooper, 75000 miles
I thought about selling one of my above vehicles to purchase this 1982 Mercedes which I planned to convert to run on veggie oil.
If you were me, which of the above vehicles would you sell?

Sat, November 17, 2007 - 7:20 PMthe mini would be more reliable at first, but the benz will last 10 times as long -

Re: 1982 Mercedes Diesel Station Wagon
Sun, November 18, 2007 - 6:22 PMThe Benz is indeed built to last. However, my answer was qualified on the basis that keeping a reliable old car running some times requires a lot of effort on maintenance. Regardless of how well they were built, there are wear items that tend to go bad after 25 years, particularly rubber bits. With the effort and maintenance, the benz would likely be more reliable. -

Tue, November 20, 2007 - 8:37 AMyou're correct heath. i guess it also come down to what you need out of the vehicle. I need the space of the wagon myself. and i am willing to replace what items needed to replace.
