Big shock there..... sarcasm not directed at you Justin, but I have been saying for years that the best biofuel all around for a great many applications is methanol, and you can get it from ANYTHING organic while still preserving the organic value of the material so it can be returned to the soil it came from. It also avoids the whole food vs fuel problem since you can use sewage just as easily.

Blasphemy! Everyone already knows the "alternative fuels" racket is wholly and completely supported by the subsidized farm cartel. Largely led by corporate farms and those who support politicians. You didn't think a bunch of greying hippies driving old converted WVO Mercedes where the reasons that "W" has mentioned alternative fuels on more than one occasion did you?

At risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, you do realize that the highest oil yielding plants and ethanol producing plants for the agricultural zones of the USA have NOTHING to do with food commodities but are most closely tied to them.

I'm not gonna bitch too loudly, because alt. energy definetly needs all the support it can get right now. EVEN IF its not currently sustainable. That scandal will make news maybe like 10 years from now. But considering the current regime we have right now. I'll humble myself for the moment and take any change we can get. We need radical change now, ultimately we need a cultural revolution... but we also need people who are willing to stand up for what they believe in. Sadly the USA is not where its at. Too many dummies, too little change at this pace we'll be buying mass quantities of biodiesel from china in no time.

I certainly hope you weren't expecting me to disagree with you.... :-)

It really is a shame how much smoke and mirrors BS is involved in the current biofuel situation in the US.

I recently consulted with some folks from congress regarding the energy bill that passed through the house not long ago and I have to tell you that the whole con game of what is actually going on with biofuels such as ethanol was discussed in detail but the congressmen in the house right now are not yet ready to buck the big petrochem/ag sector that they see as a big part of the economy of their home states.

So called clean coal and the hidden agenda of more strip mining was discusses as well with pretty much the same type of reception to the facts.

This is a huge problem and one that it will take a lot of heavy facts and lobbying to get these people to see the light on.
