has anyone figured out a way to collect WVO while letting it stand a month before picking it up. I am in the south east and was told that WVO was no good in the heat, bacteria growth, after about a week. What would be the best way, if at all possible, to leave the WVO for a month to six weeks and still be usable? I am guessing filter it at the locations , if so any suggestions on doing this.

Not sure where you got this info.

Mine sits in cubies for weeks before it goes into a settling barrel, where it stays for a couple of weeks _at least_. Then I filter it and it sits in the filtered oil barrel waiting to be pumped for more than a week (the filtered barrel only gets emptied once a year or so around here).

Nothing shows evidence of growing in my oil collection, ever. Having recently been heated to a zillion degrees probably leaves the food pretty sterile, and vegi oil doesn't' seem to be too friendly to bacteria (or Wesson oil would have killed us all by now). I'd be interested in some experamental data thouugh, if somebody has a culture dish, incubator and microscope ;)

I'll just leave the "where I got the info" alone, but it was from a fairly good source, from someone that seemed to know what was up.
I did think it was odd, I was under the impression that the larger scale collectors left the tanks for at least a month before collecting.
i am not having any luck getting others to help in my area, my work keeps me on the road for long runs of up to seven weeks away from home

perhaps the 'source' was referring to the fact of the grease turning 'rancid' and smelling to high heaven . but that depends on if it was acutal 'oil' to start with or 'grease'ie animal fat.
